SSI XR Extended Range

The SSI Extended Range course is part 2 of 3 from the SSI Extended Range Course taking you to 45 metres.

Our course includes 2 trips on our charter to the Poor Knights and your course breathing gas.

The course focuses on giving you the skills needed to safely conduct an open circuit technical decompression dive to 45m using a single decompression gas of upto 100% O2 for accelerated decompression with your team.

Successful candidates will not only be qualified to conduct decompression dives to a max depth of 45m, but more importantly, the course builds on skills learnt on the XR Foundation and SSI Extended Range Nitrox courses, so you will be comfortable using twins with different gas mixes in your stage cylinders.

Tec 45 Training - Dive Now

Cost: $1499 | From 4 days | Includes the cost of 2 trips to the Poor Knights Islands

Cost includes all SSI training, certification and study materials. Any specialist equipment will be provided by the student for the duration of the course.

The third is your Open Water Dives. This is what it’s all about – you’ll make your first dives in the ocean! During four dives, you’ll perform various skills under water and on the surface to make sure you’re a safe and competent diver. The training portion usually only takes up the first part of the dive, meaning that you will get to spend a big part of your time diving with your instructor and exploring the underwater world. And the best part is that you’ll do the final 2 dives at the world famous Poor Knights Islands!

Once qualified you will be able to dive anywhere in the world down to 18 meters. But this is just the beginning.  There are a number of exciting courses that you can do to enhance your diving and open up even more destinations and adventures.

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • 100 or more logged dives
  • Rescue diver qualification
  • Nitrox qualification with a minimum of 12 dives using enriched air nitrox deeper than 18m
  • Deep Diver qualification with a minimum of 6 dives deeper than 30m
  • SSI Extended Range Nitrox or equivelent
  • Current dive medical

We have found that candidates will get a lot more from their course if they have a strong foundation to start with. So having training and experience diving twin cylinders, plus the skill to back fin and hold their position in the water will aid them through this course and beyond.
