Advanced Adventurer Dive Course

SSI ADVANCED ADVENTURER COURSE
from $999 with 5 Boat Dives over 2 days

The Next Step in Diving... SSI Advanced Adventurer course

Scuba diving is a challenging activity, but one you enjoy.

So, if you are a certified Open Water Diver looking for your next adventure,  this course will expand your diving experience, increase your abilities and extend your diving depth qualification from 18m to 30m.

And that opens up a bunch more dive sites to explore both here in New Zealand (especially at the Poor Knights Islands) and overseas where many of the great reef dives regularly take you to 30 metres.

And did we mention that you’ll also get to dive at the world famous Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve? This is a bucket list destination for divers and is world famous.  It was quoted as one of the top 10 diving destinations in the world by Jacques Cousteau.

The SSI Advanced Adventurer course will help expand your diving knowledge and increase your diving skills to a higher level,  This will help you become a better and safer diver.  And guess what?  You do all this by completing 5 fun filled dives with one of our amazing instructors and a little bit of light reading.

You do need to be comfortable in the water as a scuba diver and ready for a challenge to get the best out of this course.  But don’t worry, if it’s been a little while since you have been diving, you can complete a refresher session with us before the course to get you ready.

Through instruction, lectures, guided dives and practical exercises, this course will let you experience 5 different exciting Adventure dives.

What is an Adventure Dive? Dive number one from an SSI Specialty Dive course.  Most specialties involve 2 to 4 dives.  The adventure dive you do on this course can count towards your specialty is you choose to complete it.

We normally try and do the following 5 dives, but there are more dives to choose from, so let us know if you would prefer to do another specialty.  Sea and weather conditions can limit some of our choices:

  • Perfect Buoyancy
  • Underwater Navigation
  • Night Dive/Low visibility
  • Deep

Optional dives

  • Wreck Dive

  • Video/Photography

  • Search and Recovery

  • Scooter – DPV

  • Drysuit –  Requires an additional pool session and drysuit hire

  • Boat
  • Enriched Air Nitrox

Diving like any pastime requires practice to perfect existing skills and to learn new ones.  What the course is really about is growing an Open Water diver’s skill base through five fun filled open water dives and through the online study material. The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives.

It also opens up a range of different diving activities that you may wish to pursuit through other SSI Specialty courses.

The adventure dives that can be conducted on the course are:

What to expect from your course

Each dive is actually Dive One from a SSI Specialty course, so the skills that are taught are a taster of the skills that can be learned on the full specialty courses that are available with us at Dive Now.

By taking part in this course you will not only gain confidence in your diving ability, but gain the freedom to take part in a wider variety of fun dives.

This course emphasises student involvement in all aspects of dive planning and gives them the ability to safely plan the dives independently once the course is finished.
