This course teaches you essential skills to navigate confidently beneath the surface, using a compass, natural references, and advanced underwater navigation techniques.
You’ll learn to estimate distances, navigate search patterns, and return to your starting point with ease.
Perfect for divers who want to increase their confidence and independence in the water, or those pursuing advanced certifications such as Independent Diver, DPV Diver, Dive Guide or Technical Diving.

What to expect
Once you have completed the online portion of the course, you will join your instructor and fellow students to complete the oceans dives.
Run from either our charter vessel at the Poor Knights or from shore, we can even spread the dives out to complete on our club Bi-Monthly club evenings.
You will complete at least 2 dives and even up to 4, so that we can cover the variety of navigational skills and get you super confident navigation underwater.
You will use a compass for directions, lines for measuring distances and an underwater notebook for creating and following a map.
Using the compass, you will learn to navigate different patterns; reciprocal, squares/rectangles and triangles.

Prerequisites:
- Be 10 years or older
- Have a minimum of SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent from another training agency.
