Getting you ready to jump back in.
If you haven’t been scuba diving for a while, let us take away the stress of your return to this fantastic sport with a short session in our pool.
Don’t worry if you haven’t got access to the most modern scuba theory, we can sign you up for the SSI Scuba Skills Update for just $50 and you will be able to refresh your diving theory ready for the session.
Our pool refresher sessions run for about 2 to 3 hours and are conducted by our instructors on site.
After finding out a little about your diving history and the length of time out of the water, we will tailor the session to suit your needs.
If you have been several years out of the water, multiple sessions maybe required to get you ready for the ocean.
We usually run our refresher courses most days and at short notice providing we have the staff available. Just let us know when it suits you! Easy As.
Generally a refresher session involves the following:
- A quick quiz to find out what you do and do not remember.
- Re-introduce you to the equipment and have you get comfortable setting it up ready for the pool.
- Talk through the skills that we will be performing.
- Conduct the skill circuit in the pool, giving demonstrations of the skills for you to repeat.
Who needs to do a refresher?
It is standard for any diver, no matter what their qualification is, who hasn’t been diving for 24 months ( 2 years) or longer to complete a refresher with a dive professional before they go diving.
All dive charters and dive resorts will require all divers to show that they are certified and current, before letting them get into the water.
Any diver can come along for a refresher at any time to practise diving skills with one of our instructors.
Cost: $160pp | 2 -3 hours Pool session $50 for SSI Scuba Skills Update
You are welcome to use your own equipment for the session or you can use our school equipment at no extra cost.
We have set aside the following times for Refreshers, however, if these don’t suit then simply let us know a good time for you. If you purchase a refresher via our website and we can’t accommodate a time to suit you then, we will give your money back in full for the session.
If you need the theory to study, we can get you set up with the SSI Scuba Skills Update materials which you can access on your phone, tablet, laptop or PC via the MySSI app. This is an additional $50. We will just need your full name, date of birth and email address to sign you up.
For divers who have not been diving for more than 10 years, it may even be worth looking at redoing the full Open Water course again.
If you are coming diving with us to the Poor Knights Marine Reserve on our charter vessel, it is possible to do a refresher during your first dive of the day.

Refresher Course Dates
Prerequisites:
- Open Water Diver or higher from any training agency.
- Fit to dive
Before you start the course:
- You have to fill out a medical questionnaire to check whether you are still fit to dive.
- Ideally you’ll train using your own equipment but we do have equipment available in our school if you require. Remember if you haven’t used your gear in awhile it might be time for a service. Bring it along with you and we can service it for you on-site by our Servicing Technician.
