What the course involves:
Digital Learning: SSI developed this program using modern Educational Management System (EMS) technology. It is designed to provide you with the knowledge required to become a Dive Guide in an easy-to-understand, logical sequence. You’ll be able to complete the e-learning at home at your own pace before attending the course.
Academic Sessions: These include lectures, instructor-led workshops, and other interactive activities. They are designed to apply the knowledge gained from the Digital Learning in a practical, real- world environment. By completing these sessions, you will gain an understanding of what it takes to become a Dive Guide.
Practical Application Sessions: This is the final component of your training, where you will further develop the skills and experience required to act as a Dive Guide.
You will learn to evaluate dive sites, conduct Pre- and Post-Dive Briefings, and lead groups of qualified divers in a variety of environments.
You will spend time in our pool completing some water fitness skills and hone your scuba skills including your rescue skills.
Dive Guiding training dives are conducted in the ocean, from both shore and from our charter boat with real divers in a variety of environments, depths and conditions whilst under the supervision of our experienced instructors.
The Dive Guide program is conducted over a minimum of five full days. It can be adapted into a multiple-weekend format or several evening sessions.
PLUS, we can help you with any diving equipment you need with our dive Retail Store where you can get leading class dive equipment. Our Charter Boat heads out to the Poor Knights Islands, so you’ll get real hands-on experience at fantastic remote locations.
Go Pro and become a Dive Master
If you want to take this certification to the next level so that you can work in the dive industry and get paid to dive, then you need to complete the Science of Diving specialty, pay the SSI Professional membership fee and earn the SSI Dive Master certification.
So begin your diving career working as a Dive Master, guiding certified divers for a dive charter or continue on to become an assistant instructor or instructor and start teaching others to scuba dive.
