Join us for an amazing diving and snorkelling trip to Palau 2027
Our Palau dive holiday combines stunning coral reefs, WWII Japanese shipwrecks, mass spawning events of fish and a jellyfish filled lake.
The daily journey to the dive sites navigates through towering limestone karst, (the famous Rock Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage site) covered in emerald green forests, rising sharply out of shallow, luminous turquoise and blue lagoons.
Palau is a stunning remote island nation in the western Pacific Ocean made up of over 300 volcanic and coral islands. It is home to spectacular coral walls, crystal-clear waters, and an explosion of reef life including turtles, reef sharks, and swirling schools of fish.
Palau scuba diving itinerary 2027
Most dive trips to Palau from New Zealand offer just five days of diving with only two dives per day, giving you basically TEN dives. That’s a lot of travel to this remote paradise for just ten dives.
Our trip is making the most of your time in this amazing remote location. You will have 17 dives over six days, one of these being a highlight of the trip – the spectacular lunar triggered spawning event of the bumphead parrot fish.
This is what the dive days will look like;
30 MAY – Diving (3-tank dives) Two reef dives and the Chandelier Cave dive as the third dive.
31 MAY – Diving (2-tank dives) + Jellyfish lake snorkel
01 JUNE – Diving – Early morning Bumphead parrotfish Spawning, followed by two reef or wreck dives (3 dives tank dives)
02 JUNE – Diving (3-tank dives)
03 JUNE – Diving (3-tank dives)
04 JUNE – Diving (3-tank dives)
The bumphead parrot fish dive has limited diver space and so the group will be split, the group will dive on either the 1st or 2nd June.
The bumphead parrotfish dive requires divers to have a minimum of 100 logged dives due to the low light, potentially strong current and high energy of the event. If you do will not meet this requirement or do not want to join this dive , let us know in advance and you can join the group dive reef or wreck diving.
The reefs and wrecks can be deep and with three dives a day, we require our divers to be certified beyond 18 metres (Deep Diver to 40m or Advanced with Deep to 30m) and as Enriched Air Nitrox divers for safety.

Getting to Palau
It’s certainly remote and there are only two options for New Zealanders to fly to Palau. Both options take two to three flights and even a stop over.
We have opted for China Air as we fly overnight from Auckland to Taipei (avoiding a hotel stay in Brisbane using Qantas). The 14 hour flight is scheduled to leave Auckland at 7.30pm. In Taipei we have about 6 hours in the airport, so bring a book. Then it’s a short 3h 50 min flight to Koror, Palau.
The return journey is similar with an overnight flight back to Auckland, (avoiding a night in a Brisbane hotel).

What to bring
Drink bottle – reduce the single use plastic
Reef friendly sunblock
3mm wetsuit. It’s warm, but the wetsuit will give you some protection against the sun and any small stingers are bitey tiny planktons.
What else can you get up to on this trip?
Well if you are not diving or are having a day off why not book a tour?
- Kayak tours. Travel by boat to the Rock Islands where you mount your kayak and explore channels and hidden lagoons.
- Land tour of the island.
Tours do need to be booked in advance to avoid disappointment and require a minimum of 4 persons

Deposits to secure your place is a minimum of $1100
50% of the balance to be paid 6 months before the travel dates.
Final payment is required by the resort 3 months prior to the dates
Cancellation policy
Should you wish to cancel your booking, all cancellations need to be advised in writing to Dive Adventures and the following conditions will / may apply:
a) Bookings cancelled at any time after confirmation are subject to the forfeit of deposit, including any additional deposits required by suppliers.
b) In addition to this fee are any charges made by the hotel, tour operator, or other principal. This can amount to up to 100% of total land arrangement costs, particularly when cancelling tours and other arrangements after the final payment due date.
It is highly recommended that Travel Insurance is taken at the time a deposit is paid, as this may prevent you having to pay these fees, if cancellation is due to circumstances beyond your control. Any refunds due will be available to you after we receive the monies from the airline operator involved
