SCUBA diving is great fun and can open the way for you to discover the diversity of the amazing underwater world that is at your back door. The PADI Open Water course is your first step, it teaches you the basic skils that enables you to enjoy the diving environment as a safe diver.
After you complete your diving course with Dive HQ Whangarei, you’ll be a certified Open Water Diver who can dive to a maxiumum depth of 18m with a buddy. You can enjoy the amazing diving we have locally here in Northland or the rest of NZ as well as overseas. We can help you with this on one of our regular trips.
We want you to be great divers and so our Open Water course takes place over 3 evenings in the pool and a weekend diving that includes a trip to the Poor Knights.
We understand you have a busy lifestyle and your leisure time is important to you and so we will be moving to "eLearning", on-line study that you can do on your Laptop ot Tablet device in your own time. We can also run private courses that are taylored to suit individuals availabilty. The theory part must be completed before we begin the in water training.
Our confined water training will ensure you’ll master all the necessary water skills before you undertake the Open Water component of your course. If you need more time to master the skills, then we will give it to you. We can roll you onto a following course or you can pay for some private tuition so that you can still finish on the scheduled weekend.
This approach optimises your enjoyment of diving and maximises your progress through your Open Water training.
We want you to enjoy your diving experience, so that you’ll come to love diving as we do and join us on trips and further training. Perhaps, Advanced Open Water or Rescue Diver. There are many PADI courses to suit different interests that we can teach.
It's a great way to spend time with friends and family and an easy way to meet new like minded people.
When you’re learning to SCUBA dive, Dive HQ Whangarei ensures you are in the very best hands with our expert staff and quality SCUBA equipment.
Your own Mask and Snorkel are required for all courses. We rent them for $50 which is refundable if you buy a mask and snorkel within 2 months of completing your course with us. We can help you choose the best gear for you too.
Cost includes all PADI training with a trip to the Poor Knights, certification and study materials. All other necessary equipment will be provided for the duration of the course.
Please Note: To enroll in a scuba diving course, you must complete the "Medical Statement Form". It may be necessary to obtain a DIVE medical completed within the last 12 months. Click here to download a medical statement form.
Transportation is not provided by Dive HQ Whangarei, but we do our best to help organise car pooling to the dive sites.
